Municipal volunteer awards

for five members of the Oriolus Foundation.

During the General Members' Meeting on Monday, November 13, Alderman Rik Thijs presented volunteer awards to our volunteers Henk Bekker, Gerard van den Boomen, Max van der Kallen, Jaap van Noort and Maurice de Wert. They will receive a medal and a certificate for their years of dedication to our club. All five are also affiliated with the Oriolus foundation.

Henk Bekker

Henk has been a volunteer at HC Eindhoven for many years. In addition to work within the board, including as chairman and treasurer of HC Eindhoven, he has been part of the Advisory Board for more than 10 years. From the beginning he has been part of the Oriolus Foundation where he fulfills the role of treasurer. Henk is also still active as a player at H30 .

Max van der Kallen

Max has been a volunteer for more than 25 years, first at PSV Tegenbosch and then at HC Eindhoven. Within the hockey club he served on the board for accommodation and catering for many years. In recent years, Max has contributed to the Oriolus Foundation. Max still plays the game in his veterans 45 team.

Jaap van Noort

Jaap started as a volunteer at HC Racing more than 30 years ago and in recent years has passionately fulfilled various roles within first HC Racing and then at HC Eindhoven. From various committees to the construction of the clubhouse and board positions, Jaap has done it all. From 2003 to 2022 he was chairman of the Oriolus Foundation. Jaap has a lot of heart for the association and will always remain involved.

Maurice de Wert

Maurice has been associated with the Oriolus Foundation for 32 years and therefore also with PSV Tegenbosch and later HC Eindhoven. As secretary of the foundation, Maurice has contributed to the continuity of Tegenbosch and HC Eindhoven for a long time. Maurice will stop being a member of Oriolus in 2024.

Gerard van den Boomen

Gerard has been a volunteer for more than 30 years, first at PSV Tegenbosch and then at HC Eindhoven. Gerard has been active in several committees, including the Hock-Ei committee. He was also secretary on the board of HC Eindhoven for many years. He is currently part of the Oriolus Foundation and will become secretary when Maurice resigns from his position. The learning process has already started. In addition, Gerard is always available for all kinds of assistance.

Oriolus Foundation

The Oriolus Foundation ensures the continuity of the hockey fields at HC Eindhoven and was founded in 1991 when PSV Tegenbosch had to leave the sports park on the Oirschotsedijk. An amount was then made available to the association to build a new hockey complex at the Marathonloop. The condition was that the money had to be placed in a foundation. St Oriolus aims to facilitate hockey for hockey club Eindhoven and therefore manages and maintains the main field.

Maurice de Wert and Henk Bekker were directly involved in the founding and have since been the secretary and treasurer respectively. Gerard van den Boomen will take over from Maurice in 2024. Over the years, Jaap van Noort joined the foundation as chairman. He did this until 2022, since then that position has been filled by Bas de Pijper. Max van der Kallen has been a board member since 2015.
