Trim hockey arose because groups of parents without any hockey experience started playing hockey together at a time when the fields were available. Hockey in an adapted form, outside of competition and above all for fun.
Over the years it has become apparent that there was a clear need for this recreational form of hockey, which was eventually called trim hockey, partly because many parents with a child at the hockey club enjoyed learning to play hockey in a playful way and understanding more about hockey. the hockey game.
More and more people have started playing Trim hockey, but more and more different groups have also started doing so. The majority is still formed by the group of parents over thirty with very little or no hockey experience. In addition, a group has emerged that wants to use this form of leisure activities purely from a social sporting point of view, without being connected to hockey through children. Finally, there is the group of ex-competition players who no longer want to be tied to the weekend and would like to participate in this non-binding and recreational form of hockey.
It is important that, regardless of the hockey experience of a trim hockey player, the purpose of trim hockey is not lost sight of:
Trim hockey is a fantastic sport that you can enjoy and is accessible to all adults, regardless of age or skill level. Here are some reasons why trim hockey is so great:
In short, trim hockey is a great sport that is both fun and accessible to everyone. It offers the perfect balance between active activity, team spirit and social contact, and it can be a valuable addition to your life. So what are you waiting for? Join the trim hockey community and see for yourself why this sport is so great!
Trim hockey players are difficult to classify! The participants differ in:
Differences in age and physical condition cause differences in execution speed. The trainer creates a situation in which each participant can perform the exercises at his own pace.
A number of trim hockey players have little or no hockey experience at the start. People who have played hockey in the past also participate. This in itself does not have to cause any problems; some experience in the group can even increase the level of play. What is important here is the attitude of the participant in question: he must be able to share the interests of the group (fun, letting go and learning to play hockey)!
The trainer can adequately respond to the differences in hockey skills through differentiation. If the number of participants is large, level groups can be put together.
Just like a normal training, the trim hockey training consists of:
Finally, the clubhouse is open for coffee or another drink and mutual contact!
The group consists of participants with and without (intensive) sports history. That is why it is extra important to start the training with a well-dosed, calmly structured and relatively long warm-up. The warm-up is done with the entire group (collectively), but everyone must be able to perform the exercises at their own pace.
Some trim hockey players expressly want to improve their fitness. Because the differences are large, variations will also have to be incorporated here. Various forms of running training (alternating in time, distance, running forms), running games, but also exercises with ball and stick can contribute to improving fitness. In any case, some form of fatigue must arise. For example, playing small games 4 against 4 and not stopping when a violation occurs, they often find it more fun than simply walking in circles.
After the warm-up, attention is paid to basic technique and tactics. The following applies: keep it simple! Most trim hockey players are not interested in practicing complex patterns such as defending. Moreover, they lack the technical skills to execute these patterns properly. If the group is ready for tactical matters such as defending and building up, this can best be discussed in the game, by giving instructions.
It is a known fact that hockey technique is quite difficult. It is also known that the learning effect and motivation improve as the number of successful actions increases.
How can the trainer help ensure that many actions are successful?
First of all, the technique must be kept simple. This can be done by opting for a wide stick lining (= the hands spread apart), so that almost all basic hockey techniques can be properly practiced and applied. The technique must then be executed properly. For the trainer this means: continuous correction (individual and group) and emphatically demonstrating and substantiating the correct technique from the start (effectiveness, safety, etc.). It is much more difficult to unlearn ingrained mistakes than to learn new movements properly.
If the trainer wants to meet the movement motive of trim hockey players, he will have to practice the technique intensively. This can be done by choosing dynamic practice and game situations in which a lot of ball contact occurs and in which repetition of the movement is immediately possible.
It's not just children calling for 'a party'; Most adults also find the game the most fun part of the training. Depending on the level, the rules of the game and the size of the playing field can be adjusted.
Walking quietly for 5 minutes prevents a lot of muscle pain and stiffness.
Depending on the level and interest, the group may or may not choose to play matches and/or participate in tournaments.
In order to play safely, the basic techniques must first be sufficiently mastered and one must be aware of the rules of the game. These are conditions for participating in competitions! After a period of practice, friendly matches can be played against trim hockey groups from other associations. This can also be done in the form of tournaments.
When playing matches and tournaments, it is important that both teams are well informed of each other's level and the composition of the group, so that they can play responsibly. In trim hockey, performance is secondary to fun. Of course everyone wants to win, but this should not lead to performance behavior at the expense of fun. The tournament organization can take the playing strength of the participating teams into account when dividing the group. There are associations that choose not to play a final in their tournament or where, in addition to competition points, points can also be earned for sportsmanship.
In addition to weekend tournaments, associations also organize small-scale evening tournaments (8 to 12 teams).
In principle, the KNHB regulations apply to trim hockey matches. However, some rules can be adjusted or added to competitions and tournaments to increase the enjoyment of the game or to promote safety. Both in mutual matches and in tournaments, teams must be clearly aware of any deviating rules.
Rules regarding blocking, dangerous play and shooting must remain in force, but for example one can play with or without a penalty corner, prohibiting playing high, allowing or not allowing a flying goalkeeper and rules regarding rounding on goal ( hitting/pushing, high/low). When mixed groups play against each other, agreements can be made in advance about the number of male and female participants.
Most trim hockey players have no need for weekly matches. They want to work on their technique in a relaxed atmosphere, move freely and not be bound by competition obligations.
Trim hockey players who are more advanced and who enjoy playing a match every week can, individually or per team, 'move on' to competitive hockey on Sundays or, for women, with the women's veterans.
The individuals and/or teams that want to play competitions therefore participate in the regular competitions and fall under the umbrella of the KNHB. So there is no trim hockey competition!
The reason for not setting up a competition for trim hockey players is twofold. Firstly, a competition affects the identity of trim hockey. This identity is understood to mean: the weekly hour and a half of exercise, in which the basics of hockey are learned, without competitive pressure and obligations.
Every Tuesday evening from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM there is mixed group training.
There is a summer and winter break due to the closure of the clubhouse.
The associations have taken out hockey (accident) insurance for their members. This is additional insurance for expenses that are not covered by your own health or third party insurance. A trim hockey player can claim club insurance in the same way as another member. After all, the criteria are being a member of the association.
